I don’t know of anyone else who is doing this
level of interdisciplinary collaboration between the visual,
musical and literary arts. It’s the great work.

The 6th annual Beat
Generation and Beyond Conference, the premier
collaborative conference, convenes this year on November 4th. Hosted
by the John Natsoulas Center for the Arts, the conference offers
a rare opportunity for attendees to meet world-renowned poets,
jazz musicians, filmmakers, and artists of the Beat Generation.
Free to the public, the conference celebrates the Beat
artists and their descendants, and continues to document a period
rich in collaboration and creativity.
A gallery wide exhibition of Beat art, concurrent with the one-day
conference and running from November 1st through November 25th
will feature paintings by Jay de Feo, Jose Ramon Lerma, Wally Hedrick,
Ralph Johnson, Roy De Forest, Michael Bowen, Clay Spohn and many
other Beat greats.
Register early, as seating is limited this year.
Those for whom the San Francisco Beat phenomenon is
merely the stuff of legend can get a taste of the real thing
in an all-day conference sponsored by the John Natsoulas Gallery
in Davis.
