Ann Morency moved to San Francisco in the early
1950’s and was immersed in the newly flourishing
Abstract Expressionist movement. She created work
known for its vigor, originality, color and boldness.
In 1952 Morency married Frank Lobdell, a fellow
painter and instructor at California School of Fine
Art. She exhibited widely throughout San Francisco,
including at the San Francisco Museum of Modern
Art in 1969.
